ATF Level, Checking
ATF level, checking 09D, 6 Speed A/T AWD
Test requirements:
^ Transmission not in emergency running mode, ATF temperature not above 30° C.
^ Vehicle on a flat surface
^ Selector lever in "P", let engine run at idle.
^ All electrical consumers and A/C system must be switched off.
ATF level, checking
- Secure container of ATF Filler Tool VAG1924 to vehicle.
- Connect Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 and advance program until "Function/component selection" is displayed.
- Then press "Powertrain (Repair Group 01; 10 to 26; 28 to 39)".
- Then "Automatic transmission 09D".
- Press "Functions".
- Press "Check ATF level".
- Press -->.
- Start engine.
- Depress brake.
- Shift selector level into each position for at least 2 seconds. Then, place selector lever in position "P".
- Raise vehicle.
- Place appropriate receptacle underneath transmission.
- Press -->.
At the test temperature of 35°.
- Remove screw plug in oil pan to check ATF.
The ATF is too low if:
Only a small swell of ATF runs out after removing the screw plug.
- If no ATF drips out after about 30 seconds, ATF must be added.
- Add ATF using ATF Filler Tool VAG1924 until ATF exits from the check hole.
- Allow ATF to drain until it drips.
- Fasten ATF inspection plug with new gasket to 70 Nm. The ATF check is now completed.
The ATF is too high if:
ATF runs out after removing the screw plug.
- Allow ATF to drain until it drips.
- Fasten ATF inspection plug with new gasket to 70 Nm. The ATF check is now completed.
- Switch off engine.
ATF level is OK if:
A small swell of ATF runs out after removing the screw plug, and then it drips out as ATF temperature increases.
- Fasten ATF inspection plug with new gasket to 70 Nm. The ATF check is now completed.
- Switch off engine.
