Contact Corrosion

The hood on the Touareg is made out of aluminum. Carefully check this attachment for contact corrosion during disassembly/assembly work.

Contact corrosion can occur if inappropriate connecting elements (bolts, nuts, washers) are used.

For this reason only fasteners with a special surface coating (Dacromet) are used. These elements are distinguished by their greenish hue.

Also, all rubber, plastic and adhesive materials are made of non-conductive material.

If there is doubt as to the reusability of a part, it is generally better to install a new one.

• Use only VW approved accessories.

• Warranty does not cover contact corrosion damage.
