Headlamp Range Control Modules J567 / J568, Servicing

General information
Control of the automatic vertical headlight beam adjusting system takes place via two dedicated control modules.

The left HID headlamp is controlled by Left Headlamp Range Control Module J567 which is located directly under the left headlamp.

The right HID headlamp is controlled by Right Headlamp Range Control Module J568 which is located directly under the right headlamp.

Headlamp Range Control Modules J567 /J568, removing and installing

NOTE:
- Illustrations depict replacement of left headlamp range control module.
- Replacement of left and right modules is the same.
- Should control module be replaced, it must be coded.

Removing:

CAUTION:
- Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

- Remove headlamp







- Remove screws - arrows - of adjusting shaft for lateral adjustment.
- Remove adjusting shaft for lateral adjustment.







- Remove screws - arrows - at headlamp range control module -1
- Remove headlamp range control module -1- from housing.







- Unclip retainer for electrical connection -1- in direction of - arrow - and disconnect electrical connection.
- Press electrical connection lock at motor -2- in direction - arrow - and disconnect electrical connection.

Installing:
Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

CAUTION: When installing module, ensure gasket is properly seated. Water intrusion will damage headlamp.

NOTE:
- After installing a new control module, it must be coded:
Coding Left Headlamp Range Control Module J567.
Coding Right Headlamp Range Control Module J568.

- Perform functional check of headlamp.
- Perform headlamp "Basic Setting" in conjunction with checking headlamp aim

Left Headlamp Range Control Module J567, coding
- Connect Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051A.
- In Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051A, select operating mode "Guided Fault Finding".
- Using the "Go To" button, select "Functions/Component selection" and the following menu options in sequence:
- Body
- Electrical Equipment
- 01- On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capable systems
- Automatic headlamp range control
- Functions of vertical headlamp aim control
- Coding Control Module for Left Lamp Control

NOTE: After coding control module, perform headlamp "Basic Setting" in conjunction with checking headlamp aim.

Right Headlamp Range Control Module J568, coding
- Connect Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051A.
- In Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051A, select operating mode "Guided Fault Finding".
- Using the "Go To" button, select "Functions/Component selection" and the following menu options in sequence:
- Body
- Electrical Equipment
- 01- On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capable systems
- Automatic headlamp range control
- Functions of vertical headlamp aim control
- Coding Control Module for Right Lamp Control

NOTE: After coding control module, perform headlamp "Basic Setting" in conjunction with checking headlamp aim.
