General Information

The Access/Start Authorization Switch E415 (ignition/starter switch) has electronic terminal control.

The Anti-Theft Immobilizer Reading Module D1 and Ignition Switch Key Lock Solenoid N376 are integrated with Access/Start Authorization Switch E415 and cannot be serviced separately.

Any malfunctions related to E415 operation are output via the Access/Start Control Module J518 On Board Diagnostic (OBD) program.

The ignition key removal lock is released electromagnetically. The ignition key cannot be removed as long as the ignition is switched on and, for vehicles with automatic transmissions, the gear selector lever is not in the "P" position.

The ignition key removal lock ensures that the ignition key is secure against being inadvertently pulled out.

Ignition key removal lock function can be checked using Access/Start Control Module J518 On Board Diagnostic (OBD) program, "Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM)".

NOTE:
- Access/Start Authorization Switch E415 is integrated with the lock cylinder and cannot be serviced separately. In the event E415 malfunctions, replace complete unit.
- In the event that Access/Start Control Module J518 requires replacement

Before troubleshooting or servicing, technicians must be familiar with the functions and operation specifics of the start/access authorization system. Always read the owners manual and review applicable system functions.
