Steering Column: Description and Operation

General Information

CAUTION: When disconnecting and reconnecting battery terminals, observe all applicable Notes and torque specifications, as well as instructions on performing OBD program and electrical system function checks. Not adhering to proper disconnection sequence will result in deactivation of Main Battery Switch -E74- and subsequent damage to electrical system components.

The function of the steering column switches are integrated with the Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module J527.

In the event the requires replacement, the control module must be coded.

Steering Column Electronics system can be checked using Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module J527 On Board Diagnostic (OBD) program "Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM)".
