Technical Background
Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) is ON, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) P1411, P1423, Secondary Air Injection System Bank 1, Bank 2, Flow Too Low are stored in DTC memory.
This condition may be caused by lack of clearance between the engine cover and the Secondary Air Injection Solenoid Valve -N112-.
Production Solution
Improved engine cover is installed beginning with 2007 model year.
Service
Secondary Air Injection Valve, Solenoid Valve -N112- is damaged when left rear corner of engine cover is installed after service has been performed to engine:
Modify engine cover as follows:
NOTE:
Do not use cutting pliers; damage will occur to cover. A file or die grinder is recommended. DO NOT remove entire ear of engine cover.
- Remove engine cover and invert.
- Remove support material between cover and ear of cover:
- File or grind to a depth of 5 mm behind the cover ear (arrows) and remove material as shown.
- Check engine cover fit, allow approximately 26 mm (1 in.) at point of contact with Air Injection Solenoid Valve -N112-.
- Inspect and/or replace Secondary Air Solenoid Valve -N112- and vacuum line if damaged.
- Install all engine covers.
- Check and erase stored ECM DTCs.
- Reset Readiness Codes.
