ATF Level, Checking and Topping Off
Description 09D, 6 Speed A/T AWD
The ATF level is checked when fluid is a specific temperature and with engine running. The ATF temperature is read out by the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing info. System VAS5051B. If the test temperature has been reached, the sealing plug in the oil pan is removed to check the ATF.
If there is too little ATF in the transmission, no ATF comes out of the inspection hole, it must be topped off.
If there is too much ATF in the transmission, the extra ATF drains out.
If the ATF level is correct, a bit of ATF drips evenly out of the inspection hole.
After checking, the ATF inspection plug is installed with a new seal and tightened.
CAUTION! An incorrect ATF level affects transmission function.
° The temperature at which ATF is checked will be given later.
ATF level, checking and topping off
If the ATF circuit was opened, it must first be bled.
Only then can the ATF level be checked and corrected.
