Exhaust System, Installing

• Align the exhaust system when cold.

- Loosen nuts - 3 and 4 - on the front clamping sleeve - 1 -.





- Align the front clamping sleeve - 1 - to the mark - A - on the front exhaust pipe - 2 - (- arrow - faces in direction of travel).

• Dimension - a - = 5 mm

• The connections must be at the right and must not project beyond the lower edge of the clamping sleeve.

- Hand tighten the front nut - 3 - on the clamping sleeve.

- Push the exhaust system far enough forward so that the pretension at the retaining loop at the rear muffler dimension - a - is 15 to 17 mm.





- In this position, evenly tighten the nuts - 3 and 4 - on the clamping sleeves to 25 Nm.





Front Clamping Sleeve Installed Position





- Install the clamping sleeve so that bolt end - arrow - does not project beyond the lower edge of the clamping sleeve.

• Threaded connection points toward the right.

Rear Clamping Sleeve Installed Position





- Install the clamping sleeve so that bolt end - arrow - does not project beyond the lower edge of the clamping sleeve.

• Connection faces toward the right for Passat or toward the rear for GTI and Eos.
