Master Cylinder

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Pliers (T10005)

Removing

- Remove the mounting bracket, refer to one of the following:

GTI, through 2009, refer to => [ Mounting Bracket ].

Golf/GTI, from 2010, refer to => [ Mounting Bracket ]. Clutch Pedal and Hydraulics

- Disengage the mount using the (T10005).





- Place a spacer - A - between the clutch pedal and the jounce bumper and press the clutch pedal toward the spacer.





Length of spacer = approximately 40 mm (for example, 1/2 inch socket)

- Disengage the master cylinder - B - and pull the master cylinder out of the mounting bracket - arrow 1 - and - arrow 2 -.

Installing

Pull the clutch pedal up to the stop in the rest position.

- Install the mount - 2 - onto the master cylinder operating rod - 1 -.





- Place a spacer - A - between the clutch pedal and jounce bumper and press clutch pedal toward the spacer.





Length of spacer = approximately 40 mm (for example, 1/2 inch socket)

- Install the master cylinder to the mounting bracket - arrow 1 - and - arrow 2 -.

- Press the master cylinder actuator rod - 1 - in the - direction of the arrow - until the mount - 2 - engages audibly in the clutch pedal.





- Install the mounting bracket, refer to one of the following:

GTI, through 2009, refer to => [ Mounting Bracket ].
