Exhaust Gas Recirculation: Service and Repair
EGR System Assembly Overview
• The exhaust gas recirculation system is activated by the diesel Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) Engine Control Module (ECM) (J248) to the electric EGR vacuum regulator solenoid valve (N18).
• Replace self-locking nuts.
1 Intake manifold
• With motor for intake flap (V157)
• With EGR potentiometer (G212) and electric EGR vacuum regulator solenoid valve (N18)
• The EGR potentiometer (G212), the electric EGR vacuum regulator solenoid valve (N18) and the mechanical exhaust gas recirculation valve are a single unit => [ (Item 8) Electrical with ] Intake Manifold Assembly Overview.
• Intake connection with EGR potentiometer (G212) with EGR vacuum regulator solenoid valve (N18), disassembling and assembling => [ Intake Connection with Electrical EGR Vacuum Regulator Solenoid Valve and Potentiometer ] Overhaul.
• Tighten mounting bolts to 22 Nm
• Removing and installing => [ Intake Manifold ] Intake Manifold.

• Replace
3 Cooler for Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR)
• Removing and installing => [ EGR Cooler ] EGR Cooler.
4 22 Nm
5 Adjusting unit for the bypass flap
• Component of the exhaust gas recirculation cooler
6 Connecting pipe
7 22 Nm
• Replace
8 Exhaust manifold/turbocharger
• Removing and installing => [ Turbocharger ] Turbocharger.
9 10 Nm
