Transmission, Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. However, important steps are listed here:

- Check the needle bearing - arrow - inside the crankshaft. Replace the needle bearing if it is damaged or worn. Refer to one of the following:

Gas engines.

Diesel engines.








- If it is not damaged, lubricate lightly with high temperature grease (G 052 133 A2).

- Transmission pins (not splines) must also be lightly lubricated.

- Make sure both alignment sleeves between the engine and the transmission fit correctly.

- Make sure the intermediate plate fits correctly.

- Guide the selector lever cable into the bracket as soon as possible.

Check the cable when raising the transmission. Do not fail to place it in the cable bracket early.

The cable is not lubricated.

Guide the engine and transmission together by hand until the entire surface of both flanges come into contact with one another.

If they do not, something is incorrect !

- Adjust the transmission mount until the engine and transmission are aligned.

- Turn the crankshaft slightly, if necessary.

Tightening specifications, refer to.

- Install the starter.

- The selector lever cable lock washers - arrows - must be replaced.






- Always adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting ] Adjustments.

- Check the coolant level and fill if necessary. Refer to one of the following:

Gas engines.

Diesel engines.

- Install the drive axles to the transmission.

- Install the heat shield above the right drive axle, if equipped and tighten the bolts - 1 - to 25 Nm.






- Install the subframe and steering gear.

- Install the pendulum support to the transmission using new bolts.

- Assemble the exhaust system and attach the suspended mount to the subframe.

- Install the lower section of the left front wheel housing liner.

- Install the noise insulation.

- Install the battery tray and the battery.

- Install the air filter housing.

- Install the front wheels.

Tightening Specifications






M12 Bolt - 80 Nm

If the insert tool 18 mm (T10179) is used, then tighten to 65 Nm.

M10 Bolt - 40 Nm

Transmission Mount and Bracket Bolt Tightening Specification






- Replace all the bolts - 1 and 2 - for the transmission mount and bracket.

- First, install the new bolts by hand.

- Tighten the transmission mount bracket - A - to transmission bolts - 1 - to 40 Nm + 90° (1/4) additional turn.

- Tighten the transmission mount to transmission mount bracket bolts - 2 - to 60 Nm + 90° (1/4) additional turn.

When tightening the bolts - 2 -, the bracket can be pried into the correct position with a screwdriver.
