Inertia Fuel Shutoff Switch: Description and Operation

Crash Fuel Shut-off

Function
Airbag-equipped vehicles have a crash fuel shut-off. This is intended to reduce the risk of vehicle fire following a crash by switching off Transfer Fuel Pump (FP) G6 via the Fuel Pump (FP) Control Module J538. At the same time, this function improves comfort of engine start-up behavior. When the door is opened, the Transfer Fuel Pump (FP) G6 is activated for 2 seconds so that pressure builds in the fuel system.

When opening fuel system:
- Observe safety precautions.
- Observe rules for cleanliness.
