Cooling System Components Overview, Body Side






1 Upper Coolant Hose

to the flange on the cylinder head.

2 O-ring

Replace if damaged.

3 Radiator

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Radiator ] Service and Repair.

After replacing, replace the entire amount of coolant.

4 Gasket

5 Cap

Check using the cooling system tester (V.A.G 1274 B) and the adapter (V.A.G 1274/9). Refer to => [ Cooling System, Checking for Leaks ] Cooling System, Checking For Leaks.

The pressure relief valve must open at 1.4 to 1.6 bar.

6 Connector

7 Bolt

2 Nm

8 Expansion Tank

Perform a leak test on the cooling system using the cooling system tester (V.A.G 1274 B) and the adapter (V.A.G 1274/8). Refer to => [ Cooling System, Checking for Leaks ] Cooling System, Checking For Leaks.

9 Bracket

For the radiator.

10 Bolt

7 Nm

11 Spacer Piece

For the refrigerant line bracket.

12 Support

Inserted in the lock carrier.

13 Nut

5 Nm

14 Fan Shroud

15 Bolt

5 Nm

16 Coolant Fan 2 (V177)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fan Shroud and Fans ] Service and Repair.

17 Connector

19 Coolant Fan (V7)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fan Shroud and Fans ] Service and Repair.

With the coolant fan control module (J293).

20 Lower Coolant Hose

From the connection for the coolant thermostat.

21 Retaining Clip

22 Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor on Radiator (G83)

23 O-ring

Always replace.
