Instrument Cluster
General Information
The following components are located inside the instrument cluster:
• Instrument Cluster Control Module (J285)
• Anti-Theft Immobilizer Control Module (J362)
• Speedometer (G21)
• Tachometer (G5)
• Fuel gauge (G1)
• Coolant temperature gauge (G3)
• Multifunction indicator
• Indicator lamps. Refer to=> [ Instrument Cluster Indicator Lamp Symbols, through MY 09 ] [1][2]Connector Views.
To audibly support the visual displays of the instrument panel insert, the Instrument Cluster Control Module (J285) activates a warning buzzer.
All control lamps are equipped with Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs). Servicing the instrument cluster is not planned. In the event of malfunctions, the complete instrument cluster must be replaced. Refer to=> [ Instrument Cluster, Replacement ] Instrument Cluster, Replacement.
The data bus on board diagnostic interface (J533) (Gateway) is designed as a separate control module and is not a component of the instrument cluster as it is for various other vehicles. Refer to => [ Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface ] Description and Operation.
DTC Recognition and Display
The instrument cluster is equipped with On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capabilities
Use the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051B) under "Guided Fault Finding".
