Front Suspension






Wheel Hub with Wheel Bearing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench (V.A.G 1332)

Removing

- Loosen drive axle bolt to wheel hub:

Hex head bolt, refer to => [ Drive Axle Hex Bolt, Loosening and Tightening ] Drive Axle Hex Bolt, Loosening and Tightening.

Twelve point bolt, refer to => [ Drive Axle Twelve-Point Bolt, Loosening and Tightening ] Drive Axle Twelve-Point Bolt, Loosening and Tightening.

Vehicle must not be standing on its wheels when doing this, otherwise wheel bearing will be damaged.

- Remove wheel.

- Remove brake caliper and engage on body with wire.

- Remove wheel speed sensor.

- Remove disc brake.

Only Vehicles with Drive Axle VL 100

- Press the drive axle out of the hub as far as possible (in direction of transmission).

- Remove bolts - arrows -.





- Remove wheel bearing unit from wheel bearing housing.

Continuation for all vehicles

- Remove nuts - arrows -.





- Pull control arm out of lower ball joint.

- Pull the drive axle out of the wheel hub.

- Remove bolts - arrows -.





- Remove wheel bearing unit from wheel bearing housing.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.

- Install brake caliper.

- Tighten drive axle bolt to wheel hub:

Hex head bolt, refer to => [ Drive Axle Hex Bolt, Loosening and Tightening ] Drive Axle Hex Bolt, Loosening and Tightening.

Twelve point bolt, refer to => [ Drive Axle Twelve-Point Bolt, Loosening and Tightening ] Drive Axle Twelve-Point Bolt, Loosening and Tightening.

Vehicle must not be standing on its wheels when doing this, otherwise wheel bearing will be damaged.

- Install the wheel speed sensor.

- Install wheel and tighten. Specification, refer to => [ Wheel Bolt Tightening Specification ] Specifications.
