Fuel System, Bleeding
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Adapter for K-jetronic Test Device (V.A.G 1318/20)
• Suction Pump (VAS 5226)
• Vehicle Diagnostic Tester
• If the fuel supply system was opened, it must always be bled before starting the engine.
• If the fuel supply system is not bled, the catalytic converter will be damaged.
• Pay attention to the rules of cleanliness. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Fuel Supply.
The fuel system is under pressure!
• Always wear protective eyewear and protective clothing to prevent injuries and fuel from coming in contact with your skin.
• Before loosening line connections, place a cloth around the connection point. Then release pressure by carefully pulling off the line.

- Keep pressing the -> until the fuel pump relay - J17 activates. This activates the fuel pump. Let the diagnostic run until fuel without bubbles runs out of the bleed valve. Then end the output diagnostic test mode.
• If the output diagnostic test mode is interrupted, the engine must be started for a short time before the mode can be accessed again. The output diagnostic test mode is automatically cancelled after 60 seconds.
- Turn the valve on the adapter (V.A.G 1318/20) counterclockwise until it is completely open again.
- Clamp the hose from the suction pump (VAS 5226) (for example, using hose clamps up to 25 mm dia. (3094)) and disconnect the hose from the adapter (V.A.G 1318/20-1).
- Remove the adapter (V.A.G 1318/20) from the bleed valve.
