- Marked by three impressions on circumference of exhaust pipe
- As standard, exhaust pipe and rear mufflers are installed as a single component. For repairs, exhaust pipe and rear muffler are supplied individually with a repair double clamp for connecting together.
- Cut through exhaust pipe with body saw V.A.G 1523A at right angles at separating point.

Work sequence
- Position double clamp approx. 5 mm away from mark "A" - arrow 2 -.

NOTE:
- Marking "A" - arrow2 - is valid for models with manual or automatic transmission.
- Marking "S" - arrow1 - is not valid for this engine.

Work sequence
- Position so that angled side on base of mounting - arrow - points forward.







Separating point on exhaust pipe

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Body saw V.A.G 1523 A

Work sequence
- Separate exhaust pipe at right angles at separating point - arrow2 -.
- When installing position repair double clamp - 4 - on side markings - arrows 1 and 3 -.
- Tightening torque: 40 Nm







Aligning rear muffler free of stress

Work sequence
- Position so that mounting pins on exhaust pipe run parallel with tunnel bridge (dimension - x - on left and right is same).
