Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface (J533)

General Description:
The Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface (Gateway) is designed as a separate control module. It has the following tasks in the vehicle:
• Perform data exchange between CAN-Bus systems Powertrain CAN-Bus, Convenience CAN-Bus and Infotainment CAN-Bus.
• Transfers diagnostic data of CAN-Bus systems onto K-wire and vice-versa, allowing the data from the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS5051B) to be used.
• If Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface is to be replaced, the work procedure => [ Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface, Replace ] Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface (J533), Replace must always be performed to read out the codes stored in the module.
There is the possibility to trace whether to replace individual partial busses (powertrain, comfort and infotainment) during bus rest period (Sleep Mode), refer to => [ Checking Bus Activity ] Checking Bus Activity.
Furthermore, there is the possibility to check the status of the connection from Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface to another bus participant.
DTC Recognition and Display:
Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface is equipped with On Board Diagnostics (OBD) which assists troubleshooting.
The "Guided Fault Finding" function is to be used for troubleshooting of one of the systems described.
