Mounting Bracket

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Hose Clamps up to 25 mm Dia. (3094)

• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

• Spring Type Clip Pliers (VAS 5024 A)

• Sealing Tool (T10249)

Removing

- First, check whether a coded radio is installed, if so, obtain the anti-theft code.

- Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) cable with the ignition turned off.

- Remove the entire air filter housing, if it is located in the vicinity of the battery.

- Remove the battery and battery tray.

• While performing the following work, make sure that no brake fluid comes into contact with the longitudinal member or with the transmission. If this happens, these areas must be cleaned thoroughly.

• Place a lint free cloth under the master cylinder.





- Clamp off the supply hose to the master cylinder using the (3094).

- It can also be sealed using the (T10249/1).

- Reposition the spring clamp - 3 - using the (VAS 5024) and remove the supply hose from the master cylinder.





- Disengage the securing clip - 2 - with a screwdriver or with a pointed tool and disconnect the hose/line assembly or plastic line - 1 - from the master cylinder.

- Disconnect the electrical harness connector - 4 - from the clutch position sensor (G476).

- Remove the driver side footwell cover.

- Remove the lower steering column trim.

- Remove the impact bolster bolt - 2 - and bolster - 1 -.





- If equipped, remove the clip - 1 - and pivot the front parking aid warning buzzer (H22) - 2 - in the - direction of the arrow -.





- Remove the insulation if the lower mounting bracket nuts are covered - arrows -.





- Remove the mounting bracket nuts - 1 and 2 -.





The upper nut - 1 - is accessible through the opening of the lower steering column trim.

- Remove the mounting bracket - 3 -.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Pay attention to the following:

• Replace the self locking nuts.

• Replace the hose clamps.

- If equipped, install the clip for the front parking aid warning buzzer. .

- Install the impact bolster - 1 - and tighten the bolt - 2 -.





- Install the lower steering column trim.

- Install the driver side footwell cover.

- Install the hose/line assembly or plastic line - 1 - with a new seal - 2 - to the master cylinder connection - 4 - until the securing clip - 3 - engages audibly.





- Gently pull on the line to check installation.

- Remove the (3094) and bring the return hose back to its original shape.

- Bleed the clutch system. Refer to => [ Clutch System, Bleeding ] Procedures.

- Install the battery tray and battery.

- If removed, install the air filter housing.

- Connect the battery and observe the work procedures for after connecting the battery.

Tightening Specifications
