Haldex Clutch
Haldex Clutch
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)
• Drip tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208)
• Engine and transmission jack (V.A.G 1383 A) with universal support (V.A.G 1359/2)
Removing
- Disconnect the exhaust system at the clamping sleeve - arrows - when removing the rear exhaust system components.
• Flex joint of exhaust system must not be bent more than 10 degrees, otherwise it may be damaged.
- Remove the rear flexible disc. Refer to => [ Rear Flexible Disc ] Service and Repair.
- Disconnect the connector - 2 - at the all wheel drive control module.
- Place drip tray (VAS 6208) under the rear final drive.
- Remove Haldex clutch drain plug - A - and completely drain high performance Haldex clutch oil.
- Install drain plug - A - with new seal and tighten to 30 Nm.
- Remove bolts - arrows - and remove Haldex clutch from rear final drive.
Installing
Install in reverse sequence; note the following points:
- Insert new O-ring - arrow - and lightly lubricate with high performance Haldex clutch oil.
- Insert the Haldex clutch in the rear final drive.
- Tighten the bolts - arrows - to the specifications => [ (Item 1) Bolt, 50 Nm ] Haldex Clutch Assembly Overview.
- Connect connector - 2 - to all wheel drive control module.
- Install the rear flexible disc. Refer to => [ Rear Flexible Disc ] Service and Repair.
- Install the exhaust system and align it without tension.
- Fill with new high performance Haldex clutch oil and check oil level in Haldex clutch. Refer to => [ Generation II Haldex Clutch Oil Level, Checking and Filling ] Generation II Haldex Clutch Oil Level, Checking and Filling.
