ABS Mark 70, ABS and ASR

Electrical and Electronic Component Locations





1 Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module (w/Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) (J104)

• Component location: At hydraulic unit on right side of engine compartment.

• Do not disconnect connector before successfully completing On Board Diagnostic (OBD). Switch ignition off before separating connector.

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Control Module and Hydraulic Unit ] Service and Repair.

2 ABS hydraulic unit (N55)

• Component location: in engine compartment, on the right side.

The hydraulic unit consists of the following components:

• ABS hydraulic pump.

• Valve block (contains the in/outlet valves).

• ABS hydraulic pump and valve block must not be separated from each other.

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Control Module and Hydraulic Unit ] Service and Repair.

3 Brake pad wear indicator lamp (K32)

• Component location: In the instrument cluster.

• Function, refer to => [ Level Control System Indicator Lamps ] Level Control System Indicator Lamps.

4 ABS warning lamp (K47)

• Component location: In the instrument cluster.

• Function, refer to => [ Level Control System Indicator Lamps ] Level Control System Indicator Lamps.

5 Traction control indicator lamp (K86)

• Component location: In the instrument cluster.

• Function, refer to => [ Level Control System Indicator Lamps ] Level Control System Indicator Lamps.

6 Brake system warning lamp (K118)

• Component location: In the instrument cluster.

• Function, refer to => [ Level Control System Indicator Lamps ] Level Control System Indicator Lamps.

7 Brake light switch (F) through 11.05.05

• Includes the brake pedal switch.

• Component location: on brake pedal.

8 Brake light switch (F) from 11.06.05

• Includes the brake pedal switch.

• Component location: On the brake master cylinder.

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Brake Light Switch, from 11.06.05 ] Service and Repair.

9 Anti-Slip Regulation/Electronic Stabilization Program (ASR/ESP) button (E256)

• Component location: in the center console.

10 Diagnostic connection

• Component location: under the cover in the driver footwell.

11 Right front wheel speed sensor (G45)/left front wheel speed sensor (G47)

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ ABS Component Assembly Overview, Front Axle ] ABS Component Assembly Overview, Front Axle.

12 Wheel bearing housing

13 Wheel bearing/hub unit

• The ABS sensor ring is installed in the wheel bearing.

14 Right rear wheel speed sensor (G44)/left rear wheel speed sensor (G46)

• Removing and installing, with Front Wheel Drive (FWD). Refer to => [ ABS Component Assembly Overview, Rear Axle, FWD ] ABS Component Assembly Overview, Rear Axle, FWD.

• Removing and installing, with All Wheel Drive (AWD). Refer to => [ ABS Component Assembly Overview, Rear Axle, AWD ] .

15 Rear axle body with stub axle

16 Wheel hub with wheel bearing

• The ABS sensor ring is installed in the wheel bearing.
