Clutch System, Bleeding
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Brake Charger/Bleeder Unit (VAS 5234) or
• Brake Charger/Bleeder Unit (V.A.G 1869)
• It is not necessary to pre-fill the system.
For the correct brake fluid specification,
- Remove the air filter housing, if the bleeder (- arrow - lower illustration) is not accessible.
- Connect the brake charger/bleeder unit (VAS 5234) or (V.A.G 1869).
Use the bleeder hose (670 mm) (V.A.G 1238/B3).
- Connect the bleeder hose to the brake bleeder unit collector bottle.
- Connect the bleeder hose to the bleeder - arrow -.
- Apply 2 bar pressure to the system.
- Open the bleeder valve.
- Drain approximately 100 cm3 of brake fluid.
- Close the bleeder valve.
- Press the clutch pedal rapidly from stop to stop, 10 to 15 times.
- Open the bleeder valve.
- Drain another 50 cm3 of brake fluid.
- Close the bleeder valve.
- Press the clutch pedal a few times after bleeding the system.
- If removed, install the air filter housing.
