A/C Refrigerant System, Troubleshooting
With Climatronic control set on "LO", the refrigerant system is functioning properly when the instrument panel vent air temperature is measured to be below 10 degrees C (50 degrees C)
Requirements
- Electrical systems OK
- Air flow distribution systems (controls, flap motors) OK
- No Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and no A/C compressor shut-off conditions stored/visible in the Climatronic On Board Diagnostic system. Check with VAS 5051/5052 tester in operating mode "Guided Fault Finding".
Correct and repair as necessary before proceeding.
If any one of the following system conditions exists, check A/C refrigerant system pressures.
- A/C does not cool (cooling has stopped completely)
- Insufficient cooling during all driving speeds or engine speeds (RPM)
- No cooling or insufficient cooling after a period of driving.
