Backrest Lock Release Cable







Backrest Lock Release Cable

Removing and installing on the left side of the vehicle is described here. Removing and installing on the right side is identical.

Removing

- Mount the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) on the engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095).

- Remove the front seat. Refer to => [ Front Seat ] Front Seat

- Attach the seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).

- Remove the trim from on the tunnel side from the seat. Refer to => [ Seat Trim, Tunnel-Side ] Seat Trim, Tunnel-Side

Vehicles with Manual Seat Adjustment

- Remove the trim on the sill-side from the seat. Refer to => [ Sill-Side Seat Trim ] Sill-Side Seat Trim

Vehicles with Electric Seat Adjustment

- Remove the trim on the sill-side from the power seat. Refer to => [ Power Seat Sill-Side Trim ] Power Seat Sill-Side Trim

All Vehicles

- Remove front seat backrest. Refer to => [ Left Front Seat Backrest ] Left Front Seat Backrest

- Attach the backrest to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).

- Remove cover and upholstery from front seat backrest => [ Front Seat Backrest Covers and Upholstery ] Front Seat Backrest Covers and Upholstery

- Drill out rivet - 1 - on both sides of backrest and remove bracket - 2 - from backrest.

- Loosen eyelets - 3 - on release - 4 - from screws - 5 -.

- Disengage spring - 6 -.

- Disengage upper eyelet - 7 - from lever - 8 -.

- Press the retainers in the mount - 9 - and remove the release cable - 10 - from the backrest.






Installation

- Install in reverse order of removal.

Use Pop Rivet Pliers (VAS 5072) to install rivets.

After installation, both release cables must release simultaneously. Adjustment is done using knurled nuts in releases.
