Alarm Horn: Service and Repair

Alarm Horn

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Drill (VAS 5134)

• 6 mm drill bit

• Pop Rivet Pliers (VAS 5072)

• To remove the alarm horn, anti-theft alarm system must be deactivated. Refer to => [ Anti-Theft Alarm System, Activating and Deactivating ] Anti-Theft Alarm System, Activating and Deactivating.

Removal

- Switch off ignition, switch off all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.

- Remove right front wheel housing liner.

- Using (VAS 5134) and a 6 mm drill bit, drill out both pop rivets - arrows -.






- Disengage harness connector - 1 - through opening in housing - 2 - using a small screwdriver and remove alarm horn - 3 - out of wheel housing.






- Use the (VAS 5134) and a 2.5 mm drill bit to remove any remnants - arrows -.






Installation

• Remove all metal shavings through the drilled holes.

- Perform the required corrosion protection measures.

- Connect the connector to the alarm horn.

• For reasons of clarity, the alarm horn is not depicted in the following illustrations and thus the connector is not connected.

- Guide clip - 2 - for alarm horn into body cutout - 1 -.






- Secure the alarm horn with new rivets.

- Install right front wheel housing liner.
