Hood: Adjustments
Hood, Adjusting
• The vehicle must be standing on the ground when adjusting the hood - 1 -.
• The hood - 1 - is properly adjusted when there is an overall even gap dimension when closed, it is not too far inward or outward and contours align.
• The hood - 1 - must latch without much force into the hood lock.
- Remove catches - 2 - => [ (Item 1) Catch ] Hood Locking and Unlocking Components Assembly Overview.
- Remove gas-filled strut - 5 - from the hood - 3 -. Refer to => [ Gas Strut ] Gas Strut
- Loosen bolts - 6 - and hex nuts - 9 - at left and right of hood hinge - 8 - but do not remove them.
- Align the hood - 3 - with the fenders and A-pillars.
- In the rear area, height of hood - 3 - can be adjusted with adjusting screw - 7 - at left and right.
- Ensure gap dimensions are even.
- After adjustment work, perform corrosion protection measures on hinge, - 8 -, bolts - 6 - and hex nuts - 9 -.
- After the hood - 3 - has been adjusted, the catches - 2 - can be reinstalled and adjusted => [ (Item 1) Catch ] Hood Locking and Unlocking Components Assembly Overview.
- Height of hood - 3 - to radiator grille can be adjusted in front area using hood lock - 4 -.
- Adjust adjusting buffer - 1 -.
Hood Latch, Adjusting
- Remove the radiator grille; through 12.10, refer to => [ Radiator Grille from 12.10 ] or from 01.11, refer to => [ Radiator Grille from 01.11 ]
- If screws - 2 - are loosened from hood lock - 1 -, height of hood to radiator grille can be correctly slightly.
- Tightening specifications: screws - 2 - 12 Nm
Adjustment Buffer, Adjusting
- The left and right buffers - 3 - are not for adjusting. They stabilize the hood - 1 -.
- Height of hood - 1 - to fenders can be adjusted in front area using adjusting buffers - 2 -.
