Roof Center Section, Removing

• Before removing roof center section, it is necessary to count and note the washers - 2 - and spacer plates - 3 - on all 6 threaded connections. Print out this page to do that.

• When the luggage compartment trim is installed, make sure the support is not positioned in the opening on the longitudinal member.

• To support roof, both sides of luggage compartment trim should be either removed or installed.

• The bypass screw on the hydraulic pump must be opened after the repair position has been reached on vehicle from May 2007. This prevents damaging the hydraulic system.






- Loosen the end eyes (2 and 6) on tensioning bands (3 and 4) on the outside of the main hinge. Refer to => [ Routing Tensioning Bands 4 and 5 ] Routing Tensioning Bands 4 and 5. (as shown in illustration N61-10146)

- Lower the tensioned headliner without loosening additional tensioning bands. Refer to => [ Tensioned Headliner, Removing ] Tensioned Headliner, Removing

- Remove tensioned headliner rail. Refer to => [ Tensioned Headliner Rail, Removing ] Tensioned Headliner Rail, Removing.

- Open roof with convertible top operating switch until it is just before the position shown.

- Place Hinge Supports (VAS 6365) in center position - 2 -.

- Place Hinge Support (VAS 6365) in mounting hole in main hinge - 1 -.

- Switch the ignition off. The roof lowers in stages until the supports are resting on the longitudinal member.






- Remove the right and left bolts - 2 - on the rear end of the roof center section. The spacer plates remain in the vehicle.

- Raise roof using convertible top operating switch and remove supports.

- Close roof completely until all components are locked.






- Open the glass panel to the vent position using the sunroof adjustment switch.

- Open cable tie - 3 - on guide tubes - 2 -.

- Remove cable tie - 4 - on electrical wires from roof center section - 1 -.

- Remove the three bolts - 6 - for the sunroof motor - 5 -.

- Remove both screws - 7 - for guide tube - 2 -.






- Remove screws - 2 and 3 - at left and right.

- Also remove spacer plates.






- Slide the roof center section - 1 - under the raised glass panel - arrow a - until the center section can be raised up and out of rear window frame - 3 - - arrow b -.

- Raise roof center section - 1 - back, up and out - arrow c - with a second person.

- Remove spacer plates in rear threaded connection.
