Jump Starting: Service and Repair






Jump Start Point With Suppressor (C24)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Removal

- Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers.

- Disconnect the battery. Refer to => [ Disconnecting and Connecting Battery In Engine Compartment ] Disconnecting and Connecting Battery In Engine Compartment or => [ Disconnecting and Connecting Batteries In Luggage Compartment ] Disconnecting and Connecting Batteries In Luggage Compartment.

Air filter housing is removed for reasons of clarity. It is not required when doing repairs.

- Disengage retaining clip - arrow A - and open cover - 1 - over positive pole pick-up.






- Disengage cover - 2 - over electrical wires in - direction of arrow B -.

- Remove the nuts - 5 - and - 6 - on positive wires.






- Disconnect electrical harness connector - 1 - at suppressor - 4 -.

- Remove the bolt - 3 - and remove positive pole pick-up - 2 - with suppressor from retainer.

Installation

Install in reverse order.

- Tighten all threaded connections to specified torque. Refer to => [ Jump Start Point Tightening Specifications ] [1][2]Jump Starting.

- Connect battery. Refer to => [ Disconnecting and Connecting Battery In Engine Compartment ] Disconnecting and Connecting Battery In Engine Compartment or => [ Disconnecting and Connecting Batteries In Luggage Compartment ] Disconnecting and Connecting Batteries In Luggage Compartment.
