Vehicle Information

Condition

Glass, Front Door, Phantom Operation, Pinch Protection Activates Prematurely

Erratic front door window operation may occur while vehicle is being entered, exited or unattended.

The following conditions may occur but are not limited to:

- Window may lower 25 mm when closing door, closing window or locking vehicle.

- When opening door the easy entry/exit operation may not drop low enough below door seal.

NOTE:
DO NOT replace the door control module for this condition.

Technical Background

Concern may be caused by undesired activation of window pinch protection on either front door. When pinch protection is activated the motor believes that an obstacle is obstructing the window travel while attempting to close. This also includes the glass closing after easy entry/exit operation when the window attempts to move back into the seal.

Production Solution

Not Applicable.

Service
Concern is caused when window or window regulator is out of adjustment, see Repair Manual Group 64, Glazing/window mechanism in ElsaWeb for adjustment procedure.

Tip:
After performing mechanical adjustments, a basic setting procedure MUST be performed. This setting is critical as it is different than previous models, see Repair Manual Group 64, Glazing/window mechanism, Window regulator basic setting.
