Technical Background

Front Center Armrest Cover Will Not Close

Front center armrest cover remains in the upright or partially open position.

Production Solution





Install updated armrest cover mechanism and jacketed guide pin with spring.

Procedure





^ Open rear cup holder (1) and remove two fasteners (2).

^ Remove cup holder and trim (1) from center console.





^ Remove trim panel (1) from center console.





^ Remove the console cover.





^ Carefully remove console ratchet cover using a trim tool.





^ Release the ratchet lock using suitable hand tool.





^ Reset ratchet and identify ratchet pin.





Ratchet Pin Identification





^ Using a paper clip so as not to drop new spring, insert new spring into ratchet.





^ Insert new pin.

^ Return both side ratchets to the correct position.








^ Install speed nuts to both sides as shown.





^ Operate console cover multiple times to ensure correct operation.

^ Install ratchet and console cover.

^ Assemble center console.
