Seat Belt, Does Not Retract Properly

Front seat belt twists while unfastening.

Note:
This condition DOES NOT affect the proper operation of the Passenger protection system. DO NOT replace the seat belt for this condition.

Technical Background





After unfastening the seat belt and retracting the belt rapidly, the webbing becomes twisted.

Production Solution

No production change required

Service

If the seat belt webbing becomes twisted:

^ Fully extract seat belt webbing from the retractor and un-twist the seat belt.

^ Slowly return seat belt webbing into retractor.

^ Repeat procedure again, fully extracting seat belt webbing.

^ Ensuring proper seat belt positioning, and slowly retract seat belt webbing.

^ Explain correct seat belt webbing retraction procedure to customer as described in operating instructions.
