Body - Noise When Operating Front Door/Window

Condition

Door, Front, Noise when in Operation or Operating Window

Mechanical cracking/rattling noise when opening / closing window or when closing door.

Technical Background

1) The pinch bolts on the window regulator(s) are loose.

2) Mounting bolts for window regulator(s) to door are loose.

Production Solution

1 and 2) Improved manufacturing process introduced with VIN iF_8V018535.

Service

Secure the affected LH/RH Door pinch/mounting bolts with locking compound.





Tighten mounting bolts (A, B) as necessary to 8 Nm (70 in.lbs.).

^ Take out the mounting bolt(s) separately

^ Clean and apply liquid locking compound (part number: D 000 600 A2)

^ Install bolt - tighten to 8 Nm (70 in.lbs.).





^ Remove door trim of the driver/passenger door. See Repair Manual, Group 70 Interior Trim.

^ Remove and install dampers/door and side trim/cover, remove.

^ Remove the caps of the openings for the pinch bolts.

^ Lower the door window till the two pinch bolts (C, D) are accessible through the opening.

^ Tighten pinch bolts (C, D) to 6 Nm (53 in. lbs.).

If one or both pinch bolts can be retightened:

^ Remove pinch bolt(s) separately

^ Clean and apply liquid locking compound (part number: D 000 600 A2)

^ Install bolt - tighten to 6 Nm. (53 in.lbs.)





Tighten mounting bolts (E, F) as necessary to 8 Nm (70 in.lbs.).

^ Remove mounting bolt(s) separately

^ Clean and apply liquid locking compound (part number: D 000 600 A2)

^ Install bolt - tighten to 8 Nm (70 in.lbs.).

^ Adjust window(s), see Repair Manual, Group 64 Glass, Window Regulators.

^ Install door trim, see Repair Manual, Group 70 Interior Trim.
