Battery, Discharged and Faulty Comfort Functions
The battery is found to be discharged, various DTCs and erratic comfort functions are encountered relating to the rear door control modules.
Symptoms encountered, but not limited too:
Rear window motors move in the wrong direction.
When viewing the instrument cluster an open door is shown, although doors are closed.
False fault codes identify sensors and switches which are not available on 4 door models.
- 00102 sensor for interior locking, rear left
- E 310 00103 sensor for interior locking, rear right
- E 311 01664 switch for interior locking rear left
- E 273, LOCK 01665 switch for interior locking rear left
- E 273, UNLOCK 01666 switch for interior locking rear right
- E 274, LOCK 01667 switch for interior locking rear right
- E 274, UNLOCK
The sun roof cannot be opened or closed.
Note:
DO NOT diagnose or replace any components before performing the update function as explained in this bulletin.
Tip:
This is only encountered on vehicles that use LIN Bus for the rear door control modules
Technical Background
Incorrect software parameters.
Production Solution
Final production countermeasures pending.
Service
^ Perform a software adaptation on the following rear window control modules.
Note:
To update rear door control units, select only one rear door electronics programming function.
Either function includes the programming of both rear door control units.
The condition may occur again unless proper battery maintenance is maintained.
Tool requirements
VAS 5051 or VAS 5052 (with Base CD V.10.01 and the Brand CD V.10.77.01 or higher).
Vehicle requirements
Battery MUST have minimum no-load charge of 12.5V (failure to maintain voltage during update process can lead to control module failure) (use an approved battery charger INC940 to maintain battery voltage).
VAS 5051: connected to vehicle and to 110V AC Power supply at all times during procedure.
VAS 5052: connected to vehicle with battery voltage requirements met.
Any appliances with high electromagnetic radiation (i.e. mobile phones) switched OFF.
When performing the update programming procedure, ALL DTCs for all systems are erased.
DTCs linked to Guided Fault Finding function tests will be lost.
Therefore, always address stored DTCs for Customer concerns unrelated to the update programming procedure first.
Procedure
^ Select Guided Functions.
^ Select left rear door electronics.
^ Select adaptation of left rear door control module.
Once adaptation is complete:
^ Select Operating Mode.
^ Select Vehicle Self Diagnosis.
^ Select -62- Left Rear Door Electronics
^ Select 007 coding.
^ Change coding to 128.
^ Select back arrow.
^ Select -72- Right Rear Door Electronics and repeat procedure for right rear door control module.
Once code is changed in both rear door control modules, clear both rear door control module DTCs.
