RVU - Convertible Top, Cleaning Seals (OZ 61B1)
Tip:
Technical Bulletin Expiration Date: February 28, 2008.
Seal cleaning procedure to reduce noise from convertible operation, water/air intrusion due to dry seals.
Technical Background
Clean and lubricate seals with Special Lubricant to ensure seal integrity and noise free operation.

No production change required.
Service
Requirements:
Vehicle must meet ALL of the following criteria:
VIN must show OZ (61B1) code open in ElsaWeb on the day of repair.
Vehicle must be within the Limited New Vehicle Warranty
Repair must be performed prior to the expiration date listed in this technical bulletin.
Procedure must also be performed on applicable vehicles in dealer inventory.
WARNING:
Special Tool VAS 6365 Hinge Supports must be used when performing this procedure.
Clean Seal Surfaces
With a lint free cloth, clean the following seal surfaces with a solution of mild detergent and water
Clean Sunroof, A-Pillar and Side Bar seals
With special tool Part No: VAS 6365, Hinge Supports -arrow-, place roof in the service position shown.
Place support VAS 6365 in upper position
Open roof with Convertible Top Operation Switch -E137- until it is just before the position shown
Place support VAS 6365 in mounting hole in main

Switch ignition off, roof lowers in stages until
supports are resting on longmembers
Header Seal
Roof guide pin seals
C-segment Seals -arrow-
Side panel seals
Rear Lid side seals -arrow-
M-segment seal
Rear Lid upper seal
Rear Lid lower seal
Lubricate Seal Surfaces
Once all seals are clean and dry, apply Special Lubricant to all mentioned seal surfaces.
Tip:
DO NOT apply lubricant with a cloth, sponge or foam brush.
Tip:
Avoid contact with felt trim on seals.
Apply beads of Special Lubricant
Spread evenly on seal surface
Tip:
Wear latex or comparable glove
Close roof when completed
