Reading codes (Rabbit/GTI 2006) 02E, 6 Speed Direct Shift A/T

Short description





On some transmissions, additional transmission code letters are located on the top of the transmission in the area of the selector lever cable - two arrows -.





To read the transmission code letters under the plate directly from the transmission, the engine and transmission must be supported. The left assembly mounting plate - A - must be removed. When doing this, it is important to lower the engine/transmission only far enough until the plate can be slid toward rear. If lowered further, the pendulum support could be damaged. After reassembly, selector lever cable must be adjusted.

- Support engine and transmission with engine support bridge 10 - 222 A, adapter 10 222 A /3, hooks 10 - 222 A /10 and adapter 10 - 222 A /13. Do not lift up.





2 L TDI Motor
- Remove entire air filter housing.





V6 Engine (R32)





- Remove battery and - battery box -.





- Remove all bolts - 1 - and - 2 - of plate - A -

Bolts must be replaced.

Carefully and slowly lower engine with transmission with both hooks 10 - 222 A /10.





A maximum of 4 rotations is sufficient to remove plate - arrow -.

After that, transmission code letters can now be read off, reassembly is in reverse order.
- Follow all the following instructions nevertheless.
- Replace all left assembly mounting bolts.
- First install all new bolts by hand.

- Always adjust selector lever cable.
