High Pressure Pump






High Pressure Pump

Do not disassemble the high pressure pump!

Read the safety precautions before beginning work. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Fuel Supply.

Observe the rules for cleanliness. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Fuel Supply.

Removing

- Release the high side pressure. Refer to => [ High Side Fuel Pressure, Releasing ] Service and Repair.

- Set the engine to Top Dead Center (TDC).

- Remove the engine cover/upper air filter housing. Refer to => [ Engine Cover/Upper Air Filter Housing ] Engine Cover/Upper Air Filter Housing.

- Disconnect the electrical connector - 1 -.





- For safety reasons, disconnect the fuel pump control module electrical connector - 2 - before opening the fuel system.





CAUTION!
Fuel pipes are pressurized! Wear protective goggles and protective clothing to prevent injuries and contact with skin. Before disconnecting, wrap a cloth around the connection point. Then release the pressure by carefully disconnecting the connection.

- Disconnect both fuel pipes from the high pressure pump.





- Remove the bolts - arrows - and carefully pull out the high pressure pump.





The lifter - item 1 - in the => [ High Pressure Pump Assembly Overview ] High Pressure Pump Assembly Overview can remain inserted in the cylinder head under some circumstances.

Installing

- Replace the high pressure pump O-ring and lightly lubricate it with clean engine oil.

- Check the lifter for damage and insert it into the cylinder head.

- Place the high pressure pump carefully in the cylinder head and install the bolts - arrows - hand-tight.





- Install the fuel pipes to the high pressure pump hand tight.

- Now tighten all bolts and fuel pipes to the required specification. Refer to => [ High Pressure Pump Assembly Overview ] High Pressure Pump Assembly Overview.

The rest of the assembly is performed in the reverse order of removal.
