Catalytic Converter: Locations

Front Exhaust Pipe With Catalytic Converter And Attachments (engine Code BPR), Assembly Overview







1 - Exhaust manifold
- Coat stud bolts with hot bolt paste.
2 - Gasket
- Replace
- Note installation position:
- Gasket recess - arrow A - must be located at exhaust manifold recess - arrow B -.
3 - Connector
- Black, 4-pin
- Installed location
4 - Oxygen Sensor (O2S (in Center Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC), Bank 1 G465, 55 Nm
- Only use hot bolt paste to grease thread; do not let paste get onto slits of oxygen sensor body
5 - Spring nut
- Insert from front
6 - Double clamp
- Before tightening, ensure exhaust system is tension-free.
- Installed location
- Tighten bolts evenly
7 - 25 Nm
8 - 23 Nm
9 - Oxygen sensor (O2S) behind three way catalytic converter (TWC) G130, 55 Nm
- Only use hot bolt paste to grease thread; do not let paste get onto slits of oxygen sensor body
10 - Connector
- Brown, 4-pin
- Installed location
11 - Front cross member
12 - 5 Nm
13 - Heat shield
- For catalytic converter
14 - Suspended mount
- Replace if damaged
15 - 25 Nm
16 - 10 Nm
17 - Front exhaust pipe
- With catalytic converter
- Protect from shocks and impact stress
- With flex joint
- Flex joint must not be bent more than 10 degrees - otherwise it may be damaged.
- Install exhaust system free of stress.
18 - 25 Nm
- Replace







Installation position of double clamp
- Arrow - points in direction of travel.
- Align double clamp - 1 - to marking on catalytic converter - 2 -.
- - a - = 5 mm

Mounting bolts must not project beyond lower edge of double clamp.







Harness connector for oxygen sensors - installation position
Harness connectors are located at right on vehicle floor in cover.
1. Harness connector for Oxygen Sensor (O2S) Behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) G130, brown
2. Harness connector for Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) G39, black
3. Harness connector for Oxygen Sensor (O2S (in Center Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC), Bank 1 G465, black.
