Exhaust System, Assembly Overview







NOTE: Components marked with * are tested via On Board Diagnostic (OBD) , Diagnostic mode 3: Check DTC memory.

1 - Gasket
- Replace
2 - Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) -G39-*, 55 Nm
- Only grease threads with G 052 112 A3 locking compound, do NOT allow locking compound to get into slots on sensor body
- Voltage supply of sensor heater via Engine Component Power Supply Relay -J757-
- Check oxygen sensor heater for Oxygen Sensor (O2S) before Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC)
- Check Oxygen Sensor (O2S) and oxygen sensor control before Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC)
3 - 40 Nm
- Replace
- Coat stud bolts of turbocharger with G 052 112 A3 hot bolt paste.
4 - Heat shield
5 - Catalytic converter
- With front exhaust pipe
- Protect from hit- and impact stress
- Flex joint in front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10 degrees, otherwise it may be damaged.
- Check catalytic converter
6 - Oxygen Sensor (O2S) behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) -G130-*, 55 Nm
- Only grease threads with G 052 112 A3 locking compound, do NOT allow locking compound to get into slots on sensor body
- Voltage supply of sensor heater via Engine Component Power Supply Relay -J757-
- Check oxygen sensor heater for Oxygen Sensor (O2S) behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC)
- Check Oxygen Sensor (O2S) and oxygen sensor control behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC)
7 - Retaining ring
- Replace if damaged
8 - 25 Nm
9 - Support ring
- For rear muffler
- Replace if damaged
10 - Rear muffler
- At factory, center and rear mufflers are installed as a single component. Replacement center and rear mufflers are supplied separately, with replacement clamping sleeve for connecting joint.
- Center and rear muffler, separating.
11 - Rear clamping sleeve, 25 Nm
- Note installed position => Fig. 1
- Tighten bolt evenly
12 - Center muffler
- At factory, center and rear mufflers are installed as a single component. Replacement center and rear mufflers are supplied separately, with replacement clamping sleeve for connecting joint.
- Center and rear muffler, separating.
13 - Front clamping sleeve, 25 Nm
- Note installed position => Fig. 1
- Tighten bolts evenly
14 - Support ring
- For center muffler
- Replace if damaged
15 - Support ring
- for catalytic converter
- Replace if damaged

Work procedure
- When installing double clamp, tighten bolt only as needed to align bolt end with lower edge of double clamp -arrow-.
- Threaded connection points toward the right.
- Tighten bolt evenly.

Tightening torque: 25 Nm
