Vehicle Information

Condition

Rear Power Door Locks Inoperative after Comfort Module -J393- Replacement

Rear power door locks inoperative, because the comfort control module -J393- has been incorrectly coded to "LIN" communication.

Note

Manual locking and un-locking of door is not affected.

Technical Background

From week 45/2006 the control of the rear doors was changed from a CAN communication connection to a LIN communication connection. The comfort control module cannot be coded online for the CAN communication of the rear door control module.

For vehicles manufactured after the following VINs, the online code is correct.

^ 3C_7E120152

^ 3C_7P088143

Service

For vehicles with a production date up to week 45/2006 use the code of the replaced comfort control module. If the code of the old control module is not available, change the following bits of the online code as shown below and enter them manually via the self-diagnosis service 1A:

^ - Set byte 3, bit 3 to 1

and

^ - byte 17, bit 6 to 0.

Tip:

For additional information on how to retrieve coding, * a long coding job aid can be found attached to this publication.*
