Crankshaft Position Timing Ring: Service and Repair
Sensor wheel to crankshaft, installing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
^ Torque wrench V.A.G 1331
^ Locking compound D 154 100 A1
Work procedure
Make sure crankshaft /sensor wheel contact surface is free of oil and grease.
Note:
^ Sensor wheel may only be installed once, since attachment points - arrows - of countersunk bolts - 1 - in sensor wheel - 2 - are so severely deformed after mounting the second time that bolt heads make contact on the crankshaft - 3 - and sensor wheel lies loosely under bolt heads.

- When installing, make sure that marking -VR6- - arrow - stands at individual threaded hole.
- Tighten all new securing bolts lightly by hand.
- Then tighten new bolt - 1 - to 10 Nm plus an additional 1/4 turn (90°).
- Then new bolts - 2 - to 10 Nm plus an additional 1/4 turn (90°).
