Front Side Airbag

• Removing and installing on the left side of the vehicle is described here. Removing and installing on the right side is identical.

Removal

CAUTION!
Read the Safety Instructions for working with airbags, belt tensioners and battery cut-out units.

- Mount the (VAS 6136) on the (VAS 6095).

- Remove front seat. Refer to => [ Front Seat ] Front Seats

- Attach the seat to the (VAS 6136).

- Remove the front seat belt latch. Refer to => [ Front Seat Belt Latches ] Service and Repair

- Remove seat cap. Refer to => [ Cover Cap ] Front Seats

Electric seat

- Remove electric seat front end trim. Refer to => [ Power Seat Front Side Trim ] Front Seats

- Remove electric seat trim. Refer to => [ Power Seat Trim ] Front Seats

Partially electric seat

- Remove partially electric seat trim. Refer to => [ Partial Power Seat Trim ] Front Seats

Height-adjustable seat

- Remove height-adjustable seat trim. Refer to => [ Height-Adjustable Seat Trim ] Front Seats

Fixed seat

- Remove fixed seat trim. Refer to => [ Seat Trim without Height Adjustment ] Front Seats

Passenger Seat with Pass-Through

- Remove the front seat trim => [ Passenger Seat Trim with Pass-Through ] Front Seats.

- Remove bracket and actuating lever, trim of partially electric/height adjustable seat. Refer to => [ Power Height-Adjustable Seat Trim Bracket and Operating Lever ] Front Seats

all seats

- Remove front seat backrest. Refer to => [ Left Front Seat Backrest ] Front Seats

- Secure backrest on (VAS 6136).

- Remove headrests. Refer to => [ Headrest ] Front Seats

Remove the cover and upholstery from the front seat backrest:

• all vehicles except the Trendline, refer to => [ Front Backrest Cover and Upholstery, Except Trendline ] Front Seat Cover and Upholstery

• Trendline, refer to => [ Front Backrest Cover and Upholstery, Trendline ] Front Seat Cover and Upholstery

- Separate wiring harness - 1 - from backrest frame.

- Remove bolt - 2 - (9 Nm).

- Remove side airbag - 3 - from mounting in backrest frame.





Installation

- To install, perform the steps used for removal in reverse order.

- Switch on ignition.

CAUTION!
Make sure that no persons are in the vehicle.

- Connect vehicle battery.
