Affected Vehicles

Condition

Immobilizer Inoperative

One of the three conditions may initiate communication difficulties within immobilizer system:

- Battery voltage drops below 11.5 volts

- Battery is disconnected during a repair

- Comfort Convenience Module -J393- is replaced and "Immobilizer Active" appears on the MFI

Note:
Condition ONLY occurs on vehicles produced in Model between VIN ranges: 3C_7P105700 and 3C_7P106529

Technical Background

Communication difficulties between -J393- and electronic steering column lock -J764-.

Production Solution

Improved Immobilizer communication as of 3C_7P106530.

Service

^ Replace the -J764- and -J393- to correct the condition, also see Technical Bulletin 2016689.
