Throttle Valve Control Module, Removing And Installing
NOTE: Intake manifold, assembly overview.
Recommended special tools and equipment
- Torque wrench (5 to 50 Nm) V.A.G 1331
Removing
Observe safety precautions.
Observe rules for cleanliness.
- Remove engine cover, removing and disassembling air filter/engine cover.
- Remove noise insulation pan.
- Loosen bolts -arrows- and remove charge air pipe -A- and charge air hose -B-.
- Loosen bolts and clamps -arrows- and remove charge air pipe with charge air hose downward.
- Disconnect 6-pin connector from Throttle Valve Control Module -J338-.
- Remove four bolts of Throttle Valve Control Module -J338- and remove them.
Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
Tightening torques
Component Nm
Charge air pipe/charge air hose to engine 10
Throttle Valve Control Module -J338- to 7
intake manifold
If Throttle Valve Control Module -J338- was replaced:
- Adapt Throttle Valve Control Module to Engine Control Module (ECM): VAS5051 Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System; Guided Fault Finding; Vehicle System Test or VAS5052; Vehicle Self-Diagnosis
- Erase DTC memory of Engine Control Module (ECM), Diagnostic mode 4: Reset/erase diagnostic data.
