Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System, Connection and Selecting a Function
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system (VAS 5051) or vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system (VAS 5052)
• Diagnostic cable, 3 m with power supply (VAS 5051/1) or diagnostic cable, 5 m without power supply (VAS 5051/3)
CAUTION!
Measurement and testing procedures should be performed as follow to avoid risk of accident:
• Only the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051A) or vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5052) may be used to read out measured value blocks. The device must always be secured on rear side and operated from there by a second person.
- Vehicle diagnostic, testing, and information system. (VAS 5051/) Connect - 1 - with the diagnostic cable (VAS 5051/1) or (VAS 5051/3) - 2 - to the diagnosis connection with the ignition switched off.
Location: Left front footwell.
- Switch on tester - arrow -.
The tester is ready for operation when a picture (photo) of a vehicle is displayed.
Enter "Guided Fault Finding":
- Switch on ignition.
- Touch button/field on screen: "Guided Fault Finding".
- Select one after the other:
• Brand
• Model
• Model year
• Version
• Engine code
- Confirm data entered.
Wait until tester has interrogated all control units in vehicle.
- Press the Go to button and select the "Function/component selection" function.
Now follow information given on screen to start the desired functions.
