Vehicle Information

Condition

A/C, No or Low Output

The cooling performance of the air conditioning is perceived as too low.

Tip:
Only vehicles with Denso air conditioning are affected.

Technical Background

The Evaporator Vent Temperature Sensor -G263- does not measure evaporator temperature in the air conditioning unit; as a result, the evaporator freezes over and air flow drops. The result is reduced cooling performance.

^ Old version of Evaporator Vent Temperature Sensor -G263- (lower
height)

^ New version of Evaporator Vent Temperature Sensor -G263- (greater
height

Production Solution

Modified Evaporator Vent Temperature Sensor -G263- with greater height

^ Passat: from 01/2007, Chassis No: 3C_7E149985

^ Passat: from 01/2007, Chassis No: 3C_7P118545

^ Rabbit, GTI: from 06/2007, Chassis No: 1K_8W008021

^ Eos: from 01/2007, Chassis No: 1F_7V032700

Service

Before replacing Evaporator Vent Temperature Sensor -G263- check cooling performance of the A/C system so that other causes can be ruled out.

Replace Evaporator Vent Temperature Sensor -G263- (1) for the evaporator. See Repair Manual Group 87 in ElsaWeb.

^ Park vehicle for a longer period until evaporator thaws. Symptoms should then disappear.
