With Two Piece Intake Manifold

Intake Manifold Flap Vacuum Actuator, Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Hand vacuum pump (VAS 6213) or hand vacuum pump (VAG 1390)

Conditions

• Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) valve (N316) was checked using vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051 A) under "Guided Fault Finding".

Test Sequence

If IMRC valve (N316) is OK:

- Disengage the coolant hoses - A - and pry out the cover - arrow -.





- Set the slide ring - 1 - on hand vacuum pump (VAS 6213) to position - A - for " vacuum".





- Connect hand vacuum pump to vacuum actuator - arrow -.





- Operate hand vacuum pump several times. Operating plunger must move in - direction of arrow -.

- Disconnect hand vacuum pump from vacuum actuator. Operating plunger must spring back into its initial position.

- If operating plunger does not move as described, replace actuator.
