Battery






Battery

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Removal






- Disconnect the battery. Refer to => [ Disconnecting and Connecting Battery In Engine Compartment ] Disconnecting and Connecting Battery In Engine Compartment.

- Pull out battery housing panel upward in - direction of arrow -.

- Remove mounting screw - 1 - (20 Nm) and remove retaining bracket - 2 -.






- Fold handles - arrows - upward and take out battery.






Installation


If battery is not secured properly, the following risks are possible:

Shortened battery service life due to vibration damage (explosion hazard).

if battery is not secured properly, the plates within the battery can be damaged.

Damage to battery casing caused by bracket (possible electrolyte leakage, high subsequent costs).

Reduced collision safety.


Follow the procedure in the Repair Information when disconnecting and connecting the battery. Refer to => [ Disconnecting and Connecting Battery In Engine Compartment ] Disconnecting and Connecting Battery In Engine Compartment.

Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

- Tighten all threaded connections to the specification shown in => [ Battery Tightening Specifications ] [1][2]Specifications.

- After installing, verify battery is properly seated.

- Connect battery. Refer to => [ Disconnecting and Connecting Battery In Engine Compartment ] Disconnecting and Connecting Battery In Engine Compartment.
