Removal
• Note usage and safety notes for halogen lamps, refer to => [ Application and Safety
Notes ] Halogen Headlamps.
• During removal and installation, leave ignition key with remote control inside the vehicle to prevent the doors from locking and possibly activating the Coming Home / Leaving Home functions on its own.
In order to be able to replace the bulb, it is sometimes necessary to remove neighboring components at the corresponding headlamp.
- Refer to the following table as to which components are to be removed depending on engine version, in order to replace the bulb.
• The following figures show the replacement of the right headlamp bulb.
• The left headlamp bulb is replaced is the same way.
- Disengage retaining bracket - 3 - from housing cover - 1 - and remove housing cover from retainers - arrows -.
• The lamp - 1 - is clipped into the reflector - arrows A and B -.
• When removing lamp - 1 -, the connector is not disconnected first.
- Push the connector and thereby the lamp socket sideways in one direction, for instance to - arrow B - until the lamp can be felt as being loose.
- Pull the lamp at the connector out of the reflector.
- Guide the lamp with the connector connected out of the headlamp housing.
- Disconnect connector - 1 - from the lamp.
Installation
Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
Lamp socket - 2 - has an anti-twist mechanism - A arrows -.
- Guide lamp recess - arrow - into headlamp anti-twist mechanism - A arrows -.
- Press lamp - 1 - into reflector retaining tabs - 3 and 4 -.
• The lamp must engage audibly.
• When installing housing cover, check for proper fitting. It is destroyed by entry of water into headlamp.
- Check headlamp for function.
If this bulb is replaced, the headlamp adjustment must be then checked and adjusted if necessary.
