Fastener Tightening Specifications






• 1 Always replace

• 2 Lubricate the bolt with hot bolt paste.

• 3 Lubricate the studs of the exhaust manifold with hot bolt paste; refer to the Parts Catalog

• 4 For bolt clarification for the GTI only, refer to - items 5 and 14 - in => [ Charge Air Cooler Overview ] Charge Air Cooler Overview

• 5 GTI (2008 through 2009)

• 6 GTI (from MY 2010)

Turbocharger Nut Tightening Sequence and Specification






- Tighten the nuts - 1 through 5 - in 4 passes as follows:

- First pass, tighten the nuts to 5 Nm.

- Second pass, tighten the nuts to 12 Nm.

- Third pass, tighten the nuts to 16 Nm.

- Final pass, tighten the nuts to 25 Nm.
