Towing Recognition Control Module (J345) Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Trailer Socket Tester (VAS 5800)

• Power Outlet Tester (V.A.G 1537/A) *

• Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051A)

• The Towing Recognition Control Module detects the use of trailer only from a performance decrease of at least 5 W*.

• Use the Power outlet tester (V.A.G 1537/A) or (VAS 5800) for the test.

* (V.A.G 1537/A) becomes too warm after a few minutes of use and switches off automatically. After a cooling off phase, (V.A.G 1537/A) functions normally again.

- Connect (V.A.G 1537/A).

- Connect (VAS 5051A).

- In (VAS 5051A) , select operating mode "Guided Fault Finding".

- Using the "Go To" button, select "Functions/Component selection" and the following menu options in sequence:

• Body

• Body repair procedures

• 01 - On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capable systems

• Towing sensor

• Functions

• Control Module for towing sensor - output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM)
